CRS in Honduras

CRS Partners in Honduras

Catholic Relief Services programs are implemented in coordination with local partners and in alliance with other international organizations. Through strategic relationships with local partners, communities become active contributors to and key stakeholders in their own development. CRS provides financial support as well as technical and administrative expertise, but these integral Church and community organizations lead the execution of projects in the field.

Caritas

Caritas is an international Catholic confederation working at the international, national and local levels on behalf of the poor. CRS' primary partner in Honduras is Caritas Nacional, but we are also involved with the archdiocesan Caritas arm, as well as with the diocesan arms in Choluteca, Comayagua, Juticalpa, Santa Rosa and Tocoa. Caritas implements projects with CRS in the deaprtments of Lempira, La Paz, Valle, El Paraíso and Francisco Morazán. The programs include such areas as water management, civic participation, and vegetable and cattle farming.

La Alianza

An alliance of international nongovernmental organizations including CARE, Aldea Global, PLAN INTERNACIONAL, Save the Children and World Vision, La Alianza was formed by CRS as a cooperative effort to effect the greatest change possible in Honduras. These core organizations pool their experience, expertise and resources to work for sustainable development and avoide duplicating each other's efforts. This alliance, further supported by the Honduran government, combats poverty in 80 of the poorest municipalities. With a focus on transparency and sustainability, La Alianza supports projects in the areas of health, education, economic development and political advocacy. More than 1.5 million people have benefited from La Alianza projects.
